The Mediterranean Life

A calmer life in Spain starts with seeing it for yourself.

Buying in Torrevieja and the Costa Blanca South

Clear, independent guidance on costs, taxes and areas, then a personal visit to see homes with someone who knows the ground.

Why Torrevieja

Torrevieja sits on Spain's southern Costa Blanca, with ten kilometres of beaches, a pink salt lake, and prices that go further than on the Costa del Sol. It is also one of the most international towns in Spain: official notary figures show foreign buyers accounted for most home sales there between June 2025 and May 2026. You would not be the only one making the move.

Value for the budget

Apartments and villas at prices well below many other Spanish coastal towns, from compact flats to detached homes.

Easy to reach

Alicante and Murcia airports are close, with direct flights from the UK and across Europe, so it is easy to visit often, whether you live there or use it part of the year.

A community already there

British, Dutch, Belgian, Scandinavian and Polish residents live here year-round, so services and company are close at hand.

Rules are changing. Spain has proposed a tax on property bought by non-EU, non-resident buyers, which includes buyers from the UK. At our last check in October 2026 it had not become law. Our guide explains what it could mean for you and what to check before you commit.

How it works

  1. Read the guide

Start with the free buyer's guide: the buying process, the full costs, and the questions to ask.

  2. Talk it through

A short call to understand your budget, timing and what you want from a Spanish home. No pressure, and no obligation.

  3. Visit, one household at a time

If it makes sense, we arrange a short visit with viewings chosen for you. You book your own flights and accommodation, so you stay in control of your money and your plans.

  4. Our Spanish partner handles the paperwork

Property sourcing, the NIE number, legal work and mortgage options are all managed by our partner in Spain. We stay in touch with you throughout, and afterwards too.

Who we are, and how we are paid

The Mediterranean Life helps buyers from the UK and beyond explore homes in Torrevieja and the Costa Blanca South. We introduce buyers to a Spanish partner who sources properties and manages the legal, NIE and mortgage work.

If you buy through our partner, they pay us a commission once the purchase completes. You should still take your own independent legal advice before you commit to anything.
